The Healing Eastern Arts for Life Center
The HEAL Center
The Healing Eastern Arts for Life Center (HEAL Center) was founded to provide effective natural treatments for pain and other conditions to the community. In particular, the HEAL Center utilizes traditional Eastern medicine, a proven natural medical system with a long history of use.
More and more, people are clamoring for effective natural healthcare and preventative medicine. They want to avoid high risk surgeries with long recovery times, addictive pain killers, and pharmaceuticals with lasting side effects.
Traditional Eastern Medicine has been created and refined over thousands of years, providing effective healing using relatively non-invasive methods. The recovery time is very short when done properly. This style of medicine distinguishes itself through diagnostic methods and principles that treat people as individuals with unique needs. Furthermore, traditional Eastern medicine focuses on not only overcoming disease, but also building the foundation for better long-term health. It has a reputation for wide range of effectiveness on a variety of internal and external maladies. Much of that reputation has been borne out by modern scientific study.
The HEAL Center wants to bring traditional Eastern medicine to the community through a highly-trained and experienced professional. It focuses on introducing this medicine to people in the community who have the most need and least access to this type of service. The HEAL Center currently focuses its efforts on the following groups:
1. Senior Citizens: People with chronic pain, travel difficulties, and a fixed income
2. Mobility Impaired: People who struggle to travel to seek treatment (wheelchair bound patients, stroke victims, etc.)
3. Veterans: Those who have served our country and need our support
The HEAL Center is a 501(c)(3) public charitable organization and a Missouri nonprofit corporation. Donations to the organization are tax deductible.

After passing all four board examinations on the first try, she obtained the national Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (DOM) certification from the NCCAOM (the national certifying board for TCM in the United States). During her time as a student and Eastern medicine practitioner in Florida, Ms. Barrett was able to refine her traditional Eastern diagnostic skills through personal study with Dr. Leon Hammer (of the Shen-Hammer pulse system known at Classical Chinese Pulse Diagnosis) and his 20 year apprentice, Dr. Jamin Nichols.
Ms. Barrett has the great fortune to have an ongoing apprenticeship to a world-renowned Eastern medicine doctor, Dr. Lin Quanyou (Lim Chuanyew), who specializes in spinal and four limb treatment through acupuncture and Tui'na (a combination of acupressure and range-of-motion exercises).
